1. What is environmental employment? Environmental employment is the performance of employment activities that seek to manage the use of, impact on, and enhance the sustainability of the environment. These activities, which could relate to the governance of environmental activities, the supply of environmental products and services, or the development and dissemination of environmental knowledge may be categorized in any of the following sectors:
a) Environmental protection, b) Conservation & preservation of natural resources, and c) Environmental sustainability. 2. What are CEPIT and CCEP? The Canadian Environmental Practitioner-in-Training (CEPIT) program, provided by the Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board (CECAB), offers new environmental practitioners a variety of career resources to help them work towards certification as a Canadian Certified Environmental Practitioner (CCEP). The CCEP designation is a competency-based certification for experienced Canadian environmental practitioners.
The resources of the CEPIT program are particularly valuable for BEAHR Interns as they provide a formal assessment and recognition of the skills that the intern has accumulated. For more information on CCEP and CEPIT please visit www.cecab.org.
