As a post-secondary student, you may be anxiously trying to figure out a plan of action to put in place after graduation. With an education under your belt, where will you get your work experience? How will you access that first job? Fortunately, the BEAHR Internship Program can answer those questions. By offering a six to twelve month subsidized internship, BEAHR promises students an opportunity for practical experience, networking, mentorship, skills development, clarification of career goals, and the chance to earn money. With all of these benefits, the program is definitely worth looking into. Not convinced? Check out the rave reviews from other interns: "To be a student in a classroom is a whole other world, but to apply what I learned through my studies makes all the hard work worthwhile."
"I love my job because I have a lot of variety every day; I work both in the field and in the office, and am constantly learning. The experience has been great because I have the opportunity to directly apply my academic background in a practical environment".
"My time is divided between office and fieldwork; a combination which I really enjoy. Some of my duties involve project mobilization, conducting research and day to day office administration."
"I love getting involved in the community, working independently, and working in a team setting. I am gaining valuable work experience on the job, allowing me to further develop my skills. I am also given the freedom to participate in other projects. I look forward to seeing what happens next."
"I would absolutely recommend the internship program to someone else. Job searching just after finishing school can be very competitive and discouraging. It's really nice to be able to approach employers with the possibility of bringing a portion of your wages with you. As a new company, my employers probably wouldn't have been able to hire me without the funding provided by BEAHR."
"I feel that what I do on my job makes a difference in protecting and respecting the natural environment. Knowing that I am making a difference fulfills my emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being."
"For centuries, Aboriginal people have maintained a strong connection to the natural environment; we put in effort to preserve and protect the environment. We have something extra to offer employers, and that something is Traditional Ecological Knowledge."
Do you want experiences like the ones described above? Do you want to get your "foot in the door" at an environmental company? Get an inside glimpse of how such a company functions? Do you want to learn of job opportunities in that company and turn an internship into full-time employment? If your answer to any of those questions is "yes", don't hesitate in applying to become a BEAHR intern, where you will get all of that and more-including a wage subsidy (of up to $8,000) for your potential employers.
